Today’s blog is the second of a two-part series highlighting organizations that are making an impact in our community. AbbaCare Pregnancy Resource Center has been helping women in the Winchester area for over thirty years. With hearts that are filled with love and void of judgment, the trained staff and volunteers offer encouragement and vital healthcare to women facing unplanned pregnancies.
They provide free and confidential ultrasounds, pregnancy tests, counseling, men’s coaching, and STD/STI treatments. In addition, they offer parenting and childbirth classes, as well as a PACE Program for women who have experienced abortion. Youth groups and West Virginia schools can take advantage of a TREK Program that guides middle and high school students on a healthy path of sexual integrity.
AbbaCare has recently opened a second location in Martinsburg, WV, allowing for further outreach into the community.
In a world inundated by confusion, AbbaCare empowers young women by sharing the truth so they can make an informed decision in a receptive, loving environment.
Find out more about AbbaCare by visiting their website and following their Facebook page! You can also get involved by participating in their annual Shine for Life Walk and Fun Run as a walker, donor, or both! There are both on-site and virtual options for this.
How else can you help? I’m so glad you asked. Today is the National Day of Prayer, so why not take a few moments to lift up everyone involved in this organization? Here are some specific ways you can pray for them:
- For AbbaCare’s clients. These women are struggling. Pray they’ll seek and find wisdom in a culture that is often deceptive and isolating.
- For the volunteers and staff: for physical and emotional perseverance.
- For the new Martinsburg location. Pray the first few weeks in their new building will go smoothly and the staff and volunteers will be able to provide an approachable and supportive experience.
- For the classes and programs offered by AbbaCare: that God will continue to use these initiatives to teach and guide both parents and young people to make the most informed decision possible.
Thank you so much for this beautiful piece, Audra! It is our honor and privilege to come alongside women and men facing unplanned or ill-timed pregnancy with the information they need as well as the love, support, and encouragement that they are not alone. Thank you for featuring our ministry here on your blog! If anyone has questions or would like a tour of our Winchester or Martinsburg facility, please don’t hesitate to reach out!
